The heart of the matter

Receiving their first stethoscope is a significant milestone in the life of every Creighton nursing and paramedicine student. An indispensable instrument, it’s also a powerful symbol of the commitment, compassion and values so deeply instilled in Creighton-educated nurses, EMS professionals and paramedics.
Their first stethoscope inspires students on the journey toward becoming life-changing professionals.

A stethoscope for every student

Starting in 2026, the College of Nursing will give all students a Creighton-branded stethoscope during their sophomore year, with accelerated students receiving theirs at the program’s start. Each stethoscope costs $150, and giving hundreds of them to each new class of students means the College of Nursing must raise $50,000 annually.

Every little bit counts. Whether you help one student or several, you will make a difference. And these stethoscopes will serve as more than a tool. Each student recipient also receives the assurance that they have the support of Creighton alumni and friends like you.

“Supporting the students through this program gives me such joy. When I was a student, it would have meant the world to me and my friends to receive such a gift right as we entered the clinical realm. Our future fellow Creighton nurses will feel the same way about receiving our gifts.”
— Dede Meyer Johnson, BSN’74, stethoscope program donor
