The Creighton Sustainability Student Action Fund

At Creighton, we recognize sustainability as a way to fulfill our moral responsibility to care for creation. Sustainable Creighton was established in 2017 to implement sustainable practices on campus, serving as a hub for students, faculty, staff, administrators and alumni, as well as our partners, local and global.

Our students' ingenuity and passion have driven Creighton's status as an emerging leader in higher education sustainability, and we seek their energy and perspective on issues of great importance, such as the climate crisis.

The Creighton Sustainability Student Action Fund allows students to access financial support for projects they're passionate about. All Giving Day gifts made to this cause will support students as they develop their bold ideas and advance the mission of Creighton.

100% student-led

Your support of this fund will help provide grants for 100%-student-led sustainability projects and initiatives.

Students who apply gain experience writing grants and managing projects while contributing to a more sustainable campus. Students on the project review panel, meanwhile, gain practical administrative and organizational experience.

All approved projects contribute to sustainability holistically, with priority given to projects incorporating environmental justice themes.

This winter, the Creighton Sustainability Student Action Fund paid for a student-run residence hall energy competition. In the style of March Madness, halls competed in three rounds to see who could reduce the most energy. Davis Hall was the winner. Overall, residence halls reduced electricity consumption by more than 11% compared to a four-year average!

The Sustainable Creighton Initiative

Set to be published in April, the Sustainable Creighton Initiative will serve as the University's comprehensive action plan to foster and further a culture of sustainability.

Details will be announced on April 26 at an Earth Month event in the Harper Center, Hixson-Lied Auditorium, starting at 7 p.m.

Developing the plan was a University-wide effort led by the Climate Change Task Force, in collaboration with the Sustainability Governance Committee and the Office of Sustainability Programs.
